Happy Birthday to ME!!

Today is my 31st birthday! I had to work, but I managed to have a good time anyways. My co-worker Alysha made me this cute last minute birthday card shaped like a cupcake! She used a brown paper bag!

So cute and thoughtful! And she got everyone in the kitchen to sign it too!

They even made me a birthday omlette with a candle in it....

I got some beautiful flower from my boyfriend when he came home from work....

And here's my green onions...a little over a week, and they grew this much! amazing!!

Attic Boutique - Sisters Layout

Finally I was able to do some crafting this weekend! My desk is still a mess, but I managed to clean a spot off to make this layout. I've been itching to use my Attic Boutique Designer paper, and I have a bunch of photos from last year that I haven't scrapped yet, so here's one of my 2 cousins, Meredith and Bethany, at Bethie's wedding last June.

I used the new Hat pins for the first time, super cute! And I love the colour combo of this paper!

I got a Magic Bullet!

So as you know, I am a Pinterest-aholic, and I saw how you can make easy smoothies or sorbets by just blending frozen fruit, greek yogurt and honey...well, I figured I would actually do it more if I had a smaller easy blender. So I got myself a Magic Bullet! LOL I've seen these around for awhile, but figured for only $38 at Walmart, it was worth a try. As soon as I got home with it I tried a smoothie with frozen peaches, raspberries, greek honey yogurt and some coconut milk!

It's so good!!!! and quick and easy...just what I like!

I have had a very productive day so far! I woke up at 7:30am, got ready and was out the door before 9! Went shopping and was home by 1:30! Now I've still got the rest of my day to do stuff at home....like crafting!   It's a crappy weather kinda day, wet snow...bummer....

But at least I have my green onions to give me some greenery to look at....LOL Check out how much they grew in a day! Already having some growing out of the champagne glass! crazy! This is only Day 5!

What a difference a day makes!!

It's day 4 of my green onion experiment....and look at the difference from yesterday! Holy cow!  I undid the elastic since I noticed the old white parts are starting to shrink away from the new green growth.

I also noticed all the new root growth as well...I find this so amazing to watch! LOL

And Lola says 'HI' too!!

So I'm off today and tomorrow! We had a busy week at work...yesterday had a banquet for 1000 people! whew! Today my boyfriend and I are going for an early birthday date (my bday is on friday!)  We're going to see the new movie 21 Jump Street, and dinner....I'm thinking Joey's for a lobster grilled cheese! yum!  hope its still on the menu!
Have a great weekend!

Sharing some cuteness!

As I am writing this, my furrbaby Lola is purring under my feet. I was spinning my chair around trying to see her, I could hear her purring, but then found her under my desk... I swear she never stops purring! I had to share a cute video I took last night of her watching Youtube cat videos. She LOVES watching cats on the screen!

Here's my Day 2 photo of my Green Onion Experiment! You can see quite alot of growth from yesterday...but we didn't have as much sun today, just SNOW! ugh.... I want to go back home to Ontario...they are having 25C weather!

My Green Onion Experiment

This is another great idea I saw on Pinterest! Gosh I love that website! So anyways, I know that I knew this a long time ago, but seeing it again made me want to try it! You can pretty much indefinitely keep growing new green onions without ever have to buy new ones again! Just keep your white ends with the roots, and put into a tall glass with water at the bottom, leave in a sunny window and watch them sprout from the cut tops, almost instantly!!  I'm growing mine in a champagne flute, how classy!

So this is not even 24 hrs later, and look at the growth! I'm going to take a photo everyday until they are ready to use again!  I know I'm a geek, but I find this so much fun to watch!

This may not be exciting for you, but I'm going to post a photo everyday til they are done, in these exact same positions to see the growth.  Be back tomorrow!

What's for Dinner?

So lately I've been extremely addicted to Pinterest, and I've got over 50 boards going, and over three thousand  pins...so I'm making myself actually try things I pin, especially recipes! I even started a board for that too! LOL

I decided to make a chickpea avocado salad with feta, tomatoes, red onion...and I added a lemon oregano oil and fresh lime juice. It's delish!

I also made a grilled veggie wrap with brie cheese...YUM!
Just look at that gooey brie cheese!

I'm a month into my journey to a healthier lifestyle. I've changed alot of things in my diet, including no more meat. I do make an exception for shellfish, and have on 3 occasions during this first month, had chicken. I've been enjoying other protein rich foods including Quinoa, chickpeas, legumes, whole grains....and no longer drink dairy, unless it's a macchiato...but I'm limiting myself to 1 a week...maybe 2...LOL I'm in love with other forms of milk, Almond milk or coconut milk. Not really a fan of just drinking a glass, but it's delish with Kashi cereals, or poured over strawberries as a 'dessert'.  Cutting out sugars is hard, especially cause I'm a pastry chef by day....we have to test things, and work with temptations all day long! But I've been pretty good. I've noticed I crave something sweet after a meal, so I keep frozen fruit to munch on, instead of icecream, or have an apple with unsweetened/unsalted peanut butter, and if I want it a bit sweeter, add a little honey or agave nectar.  So after a month of just making small changes here and there, I've lost 15 lbs, without really trying too hard....now time to get a little stricter on myself and exercise!

Some New Changes!

Welcome to my new blog! LOL I've decided to open this blog up to more than just paper crafting! I want to be able to share everyday things in my life, whether it be a great recipe I made, or a few photos I took, or a craft project I want to share.  So I hope my followers will check in from time to time to see what's inspiring me today!

Altered Frame - Wedding Gift

I just made this frame for my friend Jacylyn's wedding gift. I promised her an altered frame when I got her wedding photos printed....it's long overdue, since her wedding was in September, but I'm finally seeing her tonight after many months apart! I'm so excited to see her, and have sushi! LOL
I'm really happy with how this turned out. I wanted to incorporate her wedding colours which were autumn jewel tones. Here I used Chocolate Chip, Cajun Craze, More Mustard and Old Olive.

I just adore banners! I used the Pennant punch, Boho Blossoms punch and Tiny Tags...isn't that teeny tiny 'Mr & Mrs' sooo cute! love it!

I also wanted to incorporate the Mini Clothespins, since I used them when I made her Seating Chart. The stamp set is Letter It. I love these letters! To add a little something something to the matting I used the Colour Spritzer Tool with Chocolate Chip and More Mustard Markers.

If you missed the Seating Chart or Wedding Invitations I made for her wedding, click on the links!
Have a great day!
